Whitney Port shares pregnancy struggles to inspire other expectant mothers
Former The Hills star Whitney Port is hoping to inspire other moms-to-be by opening up about her own difficult pregnancy.
The reality star admits awaiting the birth of her first child has taken a toll on her physically, sharing candid details of her pregnancy via her video blog. This includes her battle with intense nausea and exhaustion during her first trimester.
And in a new interview with TV show Extra, Port revealed she'd like to help other women facing similar symptoms.
"It was really important for me to share that," she said. "Obviously, I didn't know it was going to be so difficult, but as soon as I started feeling those symptoms, I was like, 'You know what? It can't just be me that feels this way.'"
Port added, "So the more I talk about it the more I can get support selfishly, and then people who hear it can support each other and really be a forum for each other to complain to and vent to... It's been really amazing both for me and the whole community of sick pregnant women."
The fashion designer announced she was expecting a child with her TV producer husband Tim Rosenman in February (17) via Instagram.
In the post, which featured a photo of her growing baby bump, Port asked her followers for parenting advice.
"Oh hey! Just standing by the window in my underwear, with a BABY in my belly!!! DM (direct message) me if you know what I'm supposed to do with this thing for how ever many years I'm supposed to be in charge," she joked. "Check out my blog for a little letter from me & Timmy and for more behind the scenes of this crazy journey!!!! We are sooooo excited!!!!"
Port isn't the only The Hills alum experiencing baby joy. Heidi and Spencer Pratt are set to welcome their first child in October (17), while Lauren Conrad announced her pregnancy in January (17), and Jason Wahler revealed in February (17) that he and his wife Ashley will soon be parents.
