Screenwriter Joel Schumacher and movie mogul Howard Rosenman are teaming up to bring Whitney Houston's final movie to the stage as a musical.

Houston died in February (12) shortly after wrapping rags-to-riches story Sparkle with Jordin Sparks and the ongoing buzz about her last film role has prompted Rosenman, who produced the original 1976 film, which he also co-wrote with Schumacher, to dream of Broadway's bright lights.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the two old friends are working on new musical numbers to add to those recorded by Curtis Mayfield, Houston and R. Kelly for the two soundtracks in an effort to turn the upcoming film into a hit stage musical.
