Victoria Beckham hires top architect to transform new London store
Victoria Beckham has hired top architect Farshid Moussavi to work her magic on her first clothing store in London.
The former Spice Girls star-turned-fashion designer signed a deal in October (13) to show off her self-titled collection in her own retail space and she has invited Moussavi to help her transform the building at 36 Dover Street.
Describing the Mayfair location, a short walk from the famed Old
Bond Street in the heart of the city's fashion district, Beckham
says, "It's young and cool. There are great galleries in the area.
There's Dover Street Market directly opposite of us, which is not a
bad thing."
Explaining her decision to hire Moussavi, whose previous credits
include the 2012 London Olympic Park, Beckham tells WWD.com, "She
is a woman that loves fashion as well. She has quite a conceptual
eye, which I like. We want to make something different without
making it overly complicated. I just want it to feel real for
me."
The store is expected to open later this year (14).
