Tyler, The Creator: 'I hate rapping'
Tyler, The Creator is eager to move beyond the world of hip-hop after confessing he "hates rapping".
The emcee first garnered attention on the music scene as the co-founder of alternative rap group Odd Future in 2010, but just a few years later, Tyler, real name Tyler Okonma, is ready to move on from his rap career.
In an interview with Larry King on his web series, Tyler admits, "I
hate rapping. It puts you in this box... I'm talented enough to do
other things. I don't know, I'm pretty bored with it. It's not
interesting."
As for what he thinks he will do instead, Tyler is eying a career
in movies, adding, "In the future, I want to do films. I want
people to mention my name next to (directors) Wes Anderson or
Quentin Tarantino. I don't want my name to be mentioned next to
other rappers at all."
