Rapper Tyler The Creator has been arrested in Texas for reportedly inciting a riot at a South by Southwest festival gig a day after his Wednesday night (12Mar14) showcase was cancelled following a fatal car crash outside the venue.

He was arrested on Saturday afternoon (15Mar14) at an airport as he was planning to leave Austin.

The alleged riot kicked off on Thursday (13Mar14) after Tyler, real name Tyler Gregory Okonma, was caught on camera urging fans to break down a barrier to get access to the Scoot Inn, which was already at full capacity.

If convicted, he faces up to a year in jail and a $4,000 (GBP2,500) fine.

The rapper and members of his collective, Odd Future, were denied visas to travel to New Zealand last month (Feb) after officials there suggested they were a "public threat" because of past troubles, which included inciting violence at gigs.
