Tom Holland's Spider-Man film made his dad cry
Tom Holland's father was moved to tears the first time he saw the young actor in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The 21-year-old suits up as Marvel comic book character Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter ego in the new blockbuster, and he recently got the chance to watch the completed movie for the first time with his whole family.
Tom was thoroughly impressed with the finished product, but no one was more proud of his onscreen work than his dad Dominic, who has never been a fan of superhero films.
"I saw it the other day with my family for the first time with all the sound and all the (special) effects, and it really blew me away," the British star told breakfast show Good Morning America.
"The best (reaction) was my dad. My dad doesn't like superhero movies at all, and he was like, close to tears. He was like, 'I'm so proud of you, it's so good.' So it was an amazing experience to see all together."
Tom, who made his debut as the new Spider-Man in last year's (16) Captain America: Civil War, has long felt a connection to the Marvel character, because they shared a number of personality traits growing up.
"I think that's why I loved Spider-Man so much growing up... I could relate to him on a personal level because I was also going to high school, I was also struggling talking to girls, struggling with homework."
Joking about his dating woes, he laughed, "Honestly, I'm like, as far from smooth as you can imagine!"
Tom may be single right now, but his luck with the ladies is sure to change once Spider-Man: Homecoming hits the big screen in early July (17).
The film co-stars Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Donald Glover, and Michael Keaton as villain Adrian Toomes, aka Vulture, while Iron Man's Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow also make appearances in the movie.
