Tobey Maguire and wife separate
Actor Tobey Maguire and his jewelry designer wife have split.
The former Spider-Man star and Jennifer Meyer are separating after nine years of marriage.
The estranged couple has released a joint statement, which reads:
"After much soul searching and consideration we have made the
decision to separate as a couple. As devoted parents, our first
priority remains raising our children together with enduring love,
respect and friendship."
The marriage has produced two children, nine-year-old daughter Ruby
and son Otis, seven.
Maguire, 41, and Meyer, 39 met in 2003 and wed in Hawaii four years
later.
Just before she became Tobey's wife, Meyer told USA Today, "This is
truly the best time of my life. I'm walking on air. I'm getting
married, starting a family..."
Jennifer's personal life may have suffered a blow, but her jewelry
business is booming - she designed pal Jennifer Aniston and her
husband Justin Theroux's rings for their surprise wedding ceremony
in August, 2015.
"Congratulations to my beautiful friend, Jennifer Aniston on
becoming Mrs. Theroux. Designing Jen & Justin's wedding rings was
such an honor," Meyer tweeted.
Back in 2009, the jewelry designer insisted her marriage was set to
last - because Maguire hadn't lost the wedding ring she created for
him.
The actor told his bride to design two identical rings for him
before they wed in 2007 - because he was convinced he'd lose
one.
She said, "He's never worn any jewelry before and he warned me when
we got married that he'd probably lose the wedding band, so I
should make him a couple. But he's still on the first one, and
we're over two and a half years married, so we're doing good."
And Meyer admitted she couldn't be happier with her role as the
actor's wife, adding, "(He's an) amazing husband."
