The Normal Heart and DiCaprio's documentary earn TV honors
AIDS drama The Normal Heart and Leonardo DiCaprio's environmental documentary Virunga are set to be honored with special awards by America's Television Academy.
The two programs are among the six series, which will receive accolades at the upcoming eighth annual Television Academy Honors, held to highlight shows that "exemplify what it means to use the medium of television to inspire, educate and inform as well as entertain."
In addition to the small screen adaptation of Larry Kramer's
acclaimed play and the Congo-centered film executive produced by
DiCaprio, the other programs set to be feted include family sitcom
Black-ish, transgender series Transparent, and documentaries about
the Boston Marathon bombings and the life of a single, overworked
mom in America.
The prizes will be handed out during a ceremony in Beverly Hills on
27 May (15), with actress Dana Delany serving as the host.
