Taylor Swift 'let Andy Cohen know Katy Perry wasn't her friend'
Taylor Swift let Andy Cohen know Katy Perry was "the exact opposite of her friend" at the 2016 Met Gala.
The Shake It off singer's rumored feud with the Firework popstar began when she released her 2014 album 1989, and she revealed her track Bad Blood was about a undisclosed female musician who allegedly sabotaged one of her tours by hiring some of her dancers and it was thought Katy was the singer in question.
Neither of them have discussed it specifically although it has
seemingly been referenced on a number of occasions since, and
according to the Watch What Happens Live host, Taylor made it no
secret at the 2016 Met Gala in New York earlier this year (16).
In his upcoming book Superficial: More Adventures from the Andy
Cohen Diaries, he recalls he attended the annual event with Sarah
Jessica Parker and briefly chatted to Taylor at the bar, when she
was searching for somewhere to sit for Lady Gaga's performance, so
he suggested an open spot next to Katy.
"Why I felt I needed to get involved I will never know (maybe I was
auditioning for her squad?) but I innocently said exactly the wrong
thing to her, which was, 'Your friend Katy is sitting in the corner
and there's plenty of room around her,'" he wrote, adding that
Taylor responded by asking, "'Katy who?'"
"I said, 'Perry,' at which point she clearly let me know that she's
the exact opposite of her friend," he added, according to
ETOnline.
Andy, who jokes he failed his audition for her 'Squad', also
revealed Taylor asked him not to mention their encounter on his
show, but "she didn't threaten me about putting it in my book, so
here we are."
Taylor first revealed the feud in an Rolling Stone interview in
which she said she was "just straight-up enemies" with a singer,
which she hasn't named, and now she has to avoid her. When asked
about rumors the song was about Katy, she told The Telegraph she
will never discuss her directly in interviews.
