Tatiana Maslany tapped for Boston bombing movie
Actress Tatiana Maslany is in talks to join Jake Gyllenhaal in an upcoming biopic focusing on one of the real-life survivors of the Boston Marathon bombing.
The Brokeback Mountain star was recently cast as Jeff Bauman, who was cheering on his girlfriend Erin Hurley as she completed the race in April, 2013. He lost both of his legs when two explosions ripped through the crowds near the finish line, killing three people and injuring more than 260 others.
Now the Woman in Gold actress is poised to lace up her running
shoes to play Erin, according to TheWrap.com.
Stronger, based on Jeff's 2014 memoir of the same name - in which
he detailed the aftermath of the tragedy, will be directed by
Pineapple Express filmmaker David Gordon Green. An image of Jeff in
a wheelchair, being rushed to paramedics moments after the blast,
remains one of the most-recognized images from the attack.
Stronger is just one of three movies in development about the
marathon bombings - Boston native Mark Wahlberg is producing a film
titled Patriots' Day, while Safe House director Daniel Espinosa is
working on another called Boston Strong.
