Suge Knight surrenders to authorities in Beverly Hills
Hip-hop mogul Suge Knight has been taken into custody for allegedly stealing a camera from a photographer.
Knight was in court in Beverly Hills on Wednesday (05Nov14) with his lawyer, James Blatt, to formally surrender to the authorities. He pleaded not guilty and Judge Keith Schwartz set bail at $500,000 (GBP330,000).
The Death Row Records founder was hospitalized last week (29Oct14)
after taking a tumble while behind bars in Las Vegas, where he was
arrested amid allegations he and his comedian pal Katt Williams
"forcibly" grabbed a camera belonging to a female paparazzo during
an encounter in Beverly Hills in September (14).
Knight was charged with one felony count of robbery and held behind
bars so he could appear in court on Thursday (30Oct14) to face a
separate traffic citation dating back to June, 2013.
He returned to the Clark County Detention Center after settling the
case, but passed out in his cell and hit his head. He had to be
admitted to University Medical Center, where he received treatment
for dizziness and chest pain.
Knight faces 30 years to life behind bars if found guilty of
robbery due to a prior assault conviction.
Williams, who was also arrested last week and slapped with the same
charge, faces seven years behind bars if convicted.
The comedian was scheduled to appear alongside Knight but did not.
He and Knight were ordered to return to court on 24 December
(14).
