Stars turn out to support Chinese studio plan
Leonardo DiCaprio, Ewan Mcgregor, Nicole Kidman and John Travolta were among the A-list stars who helped bring Hollywood glamour to China on Sunday night (22Sep13) to support plans to open a new movie studio.
The big names were among the famous faces who jetted to the city of Qingdao to throw their backing behind an ambitious project to spend billions of dollars building a massive film studio and amusement park complex, called the Oriental Movie Metropolis, in the city.
The company behind the project threw a glitzy party, complete with
red carpet, to celebrate, and a host of big name stars turned out
for the launch.
British actress Kate Beckinsale was also among the famous faces who
walked the red carpet at the launch event, along with Christoph
Waltz and Welsh star Catherine Zeta-Jones, who left her estranged
husband Michael Douglas to attend the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles
without her.
A film festival will also be launched in Qingdao amid hopes the
city will become Asia's premiere movie-making destination.
