Stars pay tribute to Jenni Rivera in Los Angeles
Stars including Pia Toscano and Frankie J paid tribute to the late Jenni Rivera during a concert in Los Angeles on the anniversary of her death.
The Latina singer died at the age of 43 on 9 December, 2012, when the private aircraft she was traveling in crashed in Mexico.
On Monday night (08Dec14), a special concert was held in her honor,
with fans coming out in droves to celebrate the short life of
Rivera.
During the event, Toscano acknowledged Rivera's lasting legacy and
said, "I'm honored to be part of today's event which is paying
tribute to an incredible fellow artist and woman. She was an
inspiration and it's great that her family is continuing her
legacy."
Singer Frankie J also performed some of his new hits, and Mexican
singer/actress Sheyla Tadeo closed out the night with covers of
Rivera's greatest songs.
Some of the late pop star's family members also took to the stage,
including her 12-year-old son Johnny, who created a video montage
of his mom, and her sister Rosie Rivera, who discussed the
scholarships she and her family are handing out in Jenni's
name.
Rosie told local news station KTLA, "Most people can sing - well,
not everybody - but my sister gave back to the community and that's
what we're doing this year."
Earlier that day, Rivera's estate representatives marked the second
anniversary of her death by filing suit against the owners of the
Learjet plane that crashed and killed the singer and six
others.
