Solange & Kelly Rowland join forces to raise money for Louisiana
Former Destiny'S Child star Kelly Rowland and best pal Beyonce's little sister Solange Knowles have teamed up to help raise $1 million for Louisiana locals who lost everything to flooding this summer.
The two singers are joining Beyonce and Solange's mom Tina Knowles-Lawson for the Love on Louisiana: An Essence Hometown Heroes Tribute initiative.
The event, which will take place at Raising Cane's River Center on
20 November (16), will double as a dinner and an awards ceremony
honoring students and teachers who have helped rebuild areas of
Baton Rouge.
"Louisiana is a special place in my family's history, and we are
committed as a family to never forget the city and the people of
Baton Rouge," Tina, who will co-host with Solange and Kelly, said
in a statement. "It breaks my heart to see the unimaginable
disaster and destruction caused by the flooding and we will stand
and support every effort in place to help the people most
affected."
All proceeds from the evening will benefit Habitat For
Humanity.
Tina's eldest daughter Beyonce will also support the cause through
her BeyGood foundation.
In August (16) historic floods ravaged areas of Baton Rouge,
destroying more than 60,000 homes and causing $8.7 billion in
damages.
