SMITH CALLS FOR SEXUAL CONSENT AGE TO BE RAISED IN U.K.

Bill Wyman's ex-wife Mandy Smith has urged the U.K. government to raise the age of sexual consent to 18 - because she wasn't ready for an adult relationship with the Rolling Stones rocker when she was a teenager.

The singer began dating Wyman when she was aged just 13. They wed in 1989, when she was 18 years old, but split two years later.

And now she's calling on officials in Britain to consider changing the age of consent from 16 to 18, as she's worried some teens may not be ready for sex.

Smith tells Britain's Daily Mail newspaper, "'It's not about being physically mature. It's emotional maturity that matters.

"'I don't think most 16 year olds are ready. I think the age of consent should be raised to 18 at a minimum, and some girls aren't even ready then. People will find that odd, coming from me. But I think I do know what I'm talking about here. You are still a child, even at 16.

"You can never get that part of your life, your childhood, back. I never could."
