Siva Kaneswaran has black eye after street encounter

The Wanted star Siva Kaneswaran has been nursing a black eye throughout the boyband's recent farewell shows after becoming involved in an altercation in New York.

The Irish singer reveals he was smacked in the face on the evening of 18 August (14) after attempting to come to the defense of a woman involved in a heated fight with a male companion.

However, the man did not appreciate Kaneswaran's intervention and threw a punch at the star, catching him in the eye.

Showing off his injury in In Touch Weekly magazine, he says, "I am no hero. I just wanted to prevent her (the woman) from being hit!"

Kaneswaran wrapped up his commitments with the Glad You Came hitmakers last weekend (31Aug14), when they performed their last gig in Birmingham, England.

The group is embarking on an indefinite hiatus to focus on their solo careers.
