Selena Gomez speaks out over Miley Cyrus feud
Selena Gomez has silenced rumours of a long-running feud with pop rival Miley Cyrus, admitting they clashed over boyfriend Nick Jonas as teenagers but put the spat behind them.
The two singers have long been thought to harbour a rivalry in both romance and music after shooting to fame as Disney darlings, and later dating the same man, fellow pop star Nick.
Miley was even believed to have publicly mocked Selena during her
Bangerz world tour by holding up a cardboard cutout of the former
Wizards of Waverly Place star as she performed a song named FU.
However, Selena is adamant their bust-up was merely teenage angst,
telling W magazine, "We both liked the same guy when we were 16....
'Oh, my God, we like the same boy!' We are now completely settled
in our own lives."
She even goes on to admit she is a big fan of Miley's music,
adding, "Every single (Disney) girl has done it (a career)
completely differently... Obviously, she wouldn't want to be doing
what I'm doing, and I wouldn't want to be doing what she's doing.
But I'm a fan of her music - I don't know if she'd say that about
me."
During the interview, Selena declares plans to give up social
media, insisting she only uses sites such as Twitter.com because it
is necessary for her work.
"In a few years, I'll give all of it up," she adds. "I'm utilising
social media right now because of my age and because, to be honest,
everybody else in the world was talking about me, so I wanted a...
say... I honestly had to, because I didn't really expect my life to
be as public as it was. Is this going to destroy me or make me? I
still have to make that choice on a daily basis."
Selena also opens up about her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, but
insists she is tired of talking about her former lover: "I'm so
exhausted... I honestly am so done. I care about his health and
well-being. But I can't do it anymore."
