Country star Scotty Mccreery will give back to America's troops next week (begs22Jul13) by performing a free show for the military in North Dakota.

The former American Idol champion has agreed to host a special concert for the men and women serving their country at the Minot Air Force Base on Wednesday (24Jul13) in a bid to show his appreciation for their sacrifices.

Speaking about the upcoming event, hosted by the United Service Organizations (USO), the 19 year old says, "It's because of the men and women who defend this country, and the sacrifices of their families, that we are able to wake up everyday with the freedoms that we often take for granted. I'm grateful to the USO for allowing me the opportunity to say 'thank you' to our troops and their families."

McCreery is the latest star to perform for America's service members - singers Kellie Pickler, Toby Keith and Brantley Gilbert have all embarked on USO tours, with some of them heading overseas for gigs in Asia and the Middle East.
