Scarlett Johansson's new ring not a sign of engagement

Scarlett Johansson's representative has played down reports the actress is engaged to her boyfriend Romain Dauriac after she was photographed with a new diamond on her ring finger.

The Avengers beauty, who began dating the Frenchman in November (12), sparked speculation she was heading down the aisle again on Wednesday (24Jul13), when she was snapped in Los Angeles sporting a new piece of jewelry.

The diamond and ruby ring is said to have been a gift from Dauriac, but her spokesperson insists the couple is not talking marriage, telling People.com Johansson is "not engaged nor close to being engaged".

The actress was previously married to Ryan Reynolds and recently admitted becoming someone's wife is "really not important to me".

She added, "The only time I ever think about it (marriage) is when people ask me, 'Would I get married again?'... I'm in a nice relationship, I'm working a lot and, like I said, it's not important to me."
