Scarlett Johansson planning West End move
Scarlett Johansson wants her next theatre role to be a turn on the West End stage.
The Lost in Translation star won a Tony Award for her Broadway debut in Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge, and she won rave reviews for her current turn in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof when the play opened in New York on Thursday night (17Jan13).
Johansson has now confirmed that when her turn as Maggie the Cat
comes to an end, she wants to continue her theatre career in
London.
She says, "I would love to do something on the West End. After my
run with this, I will be putting Maggie the Cat to bed - doing any
longer than our run right now would be maddening. But I would love
to do theatre in the West End... I love London and have spent tons
of time there. I'd like that to be next."
Johansson adds of her current theatre role: "It's quite liberating
to be back on stage. What seems to be on the page hugely
challenging really comes to life when you suddenly have a place to
put on the words. It's very thrilling."
