Sam Smith: 'I am definitely not singing Bond theme'
British singer Sam Smith has spoken out to dismiss a fresh slew of rumours suggesting he has recorded the theme tune for the new James Bond movie, declaring, "It's definitely not me."
The Stay With Me star has long been rumoured to be in contention for the coveted job, following in the footsteps of fellow Brit Adele who won an Oscar for the last Bond track, 2012's Skyfall.
Last weekend (27-28Jun15), a new report by The Sunday Times
newspaper suggested Smith had been tied in to a deal to perform the
next theme song, but the singer is adamant the story is not
true.
He tells Britain's Capital FM radio station, "It's definitely not
me! People seem to think I'm doing it but I have no idea what's
going on. I'm being deadly serious. I think I would know by
now."
However, Smith is convinced the job has gone to another British
singer - Ellie Goulding.
He adds, "I heard Ellie Goulding was going to do it, it's
definitely not me."
