Salma Hayek collects Decade of Hotness prize at Guys Choice Awards
Hollywood stunner Salma Hayek was the toast of the Guys Choice Awards on Saturday (06Jun15) as she was feted with the Decade of Hotness title.
The Desperado beauty was among the top winners at the Hollywood ceremony and she admitted it had taken her years to accept her reputation as a "bombshell", especially at the beginning of her acting career.
She told reporters at the event, "When you start you're like, 'No,
I want them to see me for my talent, and know me as an actress.' My
English was worse than now and I read the reviews that (stated),
'Salma Hayek was a bombshell,' and to me this means that I was
terrible, that I had bombed! Everyone told me, 'No, no, it means
that you're great, that you're sexy!' And (I was like), 'That's it?
They didn't talk about my acting?'"
However, Hayek admits she has changed her tune about being embraced
for her looks now she's a 48-year-old mother.
She added, "Now?! They want to give me a Decade of Hotness (award)
– I'm like, 'Bring it on!' You really like to be 'hot' after you're
40."
Crediting her husband, fashion boss Francois-Henri Pinault, with
helping her maintain her sexiness, she continued, "You know what
makes you 'hot'? When you have the hots for someone. I have the
hots for my husband, and... I think that keeps that in you. When
you like somebody it comes out of you, almost naturally, and you're
motivated. Love motivates you."
Hayek wasn't the only actress celebrating a big night - Hustle &
Flow star Taraji P. Henson, who co-hosted the prizegiving with her
Empire co-star Terrence Howard, was also feted for her looks with
the Jean-Claude Gahd Dam award.
Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt was named Guy
of the Year, Taken star Liam Neeson was crowned Biggest A**kicker,
and Sir Ben Kingsley landed the Brass Balls accolade.
Rapper/actor LL Cool J took home the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All
Time) prize and Furious 7 star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson claimed
the Troops Choice title for his support of the U.S. military.
Johnson used the opportunity to announce plans to launch a new
variety show called Rock the Troops, which will provide
entertainment to soldiers stationed overseas. The show is due to
debut on Spike TV network on Veterans Day next year (16).
