Russell Brand doing 'quite well' since Katy Perry split
Russell Brand has put his marriage breakdown behind him to get back to work promoting his new TV show, insisting he is feeling "quite well" after his split from Katy Perry.
The British funnyman filed for divorce from the pop star on 30 December (11), citing "irreconcilable differences" as his reason to end the 14-month union.
Russell Brand flew back to America for the first time since the
split last week (ends15Jan12) and he was back at work promoting his
new TV show, Strangely Uplifting, at a press event in Pasadena,
California over the weekend (14-15Jan12).
When asked about his divorce news, Russell Brand insisted he is
doing OK and referenced late author Kurt Vonnegut to describe his
current situation.
He told reporters, "(I am) quite well, thank you. Are you asking
because of recent events? You are making the mistake of seeing time
as linear. The brilliant American author Kurt Vonnegut, he'll tell
you that if you imagine reality as experienced simultaneously,
events become redundant."
And when asked if he is happy, Russell Brand replied, "Yes, I
am."
He went on to talk about his new TV show, adding, "There will be
inevitable biographical elements, because you can't speak from
anyone's perspective but your own. Unless you bizarrely adapt some
sort of avatar... So there will inevitable be my experiences, I
will speak from own my perspective.
"I live in this extraordinary country of yours. I'm not from here.
It's like the perspective of an alien trying to understand this
peculiar time and this peculiar country. What I think, it's a bit
like (sci-fi sitcom) Mork and Mindy."
