Rupert Friend weds in secret ceremony

Actor Rupert Friend is a married man after exchanging vows with Paralympic athlete Aimee Mullins in a secret ceremony last month (May16).

The 34-year-old Homeland star recently took to Instagram to reveal he had eloped with Aimee to an undisclosed location just a few weeks ago, as he shared a sweet photo of the couple embracing as husband and wife.

"Today is the one-month anniversary of being happily married to @AimeeMullins! #ilovemywife," he captioned the shot.

Aimee also shared details about the ceremony on social media in a series of photos from the big day. "The 1st of May was a gorgeous rainy day with (The Most Reverend!) @eatkinsdiet as our Officiant (The Most Divine) @betonyvernon as our Witness," she wrote. "An elopement in the field got moved into the compost shed. Our kind of magical day."

Alongside a snap of the couple kissing, the 39-year-old athlete wrote, "Bliss. Officially," while she shared a photo of herself in a wedding dress and added, "Yayyyy (sic) for the marital compost shed!! And to having a gorgeous dress sent from the inimitable @oliviertheyskens on basically no notice. #elopement".

Another photo featured the newlyweds posing with their friends, who served as officiant and witness.

Aimee captioned it, "Our rainy day wedding in a magical hobbit-y (sic) compost shed... vintage silk and muddy booties, a bespoke suit for Rupert with a vibrant blue-purple lining, and champagne all around."

The Paralympic runner has been engaged to the British actor since 2014, after dating for a year.

Aimee was born with a condition that required both her lower legs to be amputated as a child, and she competed as a professional athlete before becoming a model and motivational speaker.

Rupert previously dated his Pride & Prejudice costar Keira Knightley for five years before they split in 2011. She has since married British rocker James Righton, who she wed in 2013. They are now parents to daughter Edie, who was born last year (15).
