Robin Wright is new spokeperson for Congolese women's organization

Actress Robin Wright has landed a new role as the the Goodwill Ambassador for a Congolese women's rights organization.

The House of Cards star will work closely with officials behind the Women's Synergy for Victims of Sexual Violence group to raise awareness about the cause and the psycho-social, medical and legal services representatives provide in the North Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

She says, "I've been to the Congo I have seen Synergy's work first-hand. The medical care and support they provide to victims of sexual assault is life-saving. I am proud to serve as their Goodwill Ambassador because I know their work is making a difference in the lives of women and girls every day."

News of Wright's latest job emerged on Thursday (19Dec13) - the same day she was reported to have become engaged to actor boyfriend Ben Foster.
