Robert Pattinson brushes off Kristen Stewart's cheating scandal
Robert Pattinson has no hard feelings about his ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart after she torpedoed their romance by locking lips with a married moviemaker in 2012, insisting infidelity is "normal" among young lovers.
The British actor's relationship with his Twilight co-star was rocked two years ago, when Stewart was photographed kissing her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders in a Los Angeles car park.
The illicit romance prompted Pattinson and Stewart to briefly
split, before parting ways for good last year (13), while it also
destroyed Sanders' marriage to model/actress Liberty Ross. Their
divorce was finalized last week (ends25Jul14).
Pattinson has now opened up about the infamous fling in a candid
new interview with Britain's Esquire magazine, admitting the worst
part of the scandal was having to discuss it in public.
Brushing off the cheating controversy, he says, "S**t happens, you
know? It's just young people... it's normal! And honestly, who
gives a s**t?
"The hardest part was talking about it afterward. Because when you
talk about other people, it affects them in ways you can't
predict."
The actor's dramatic personal life has also turned him into a
paparazzi target, but Pattinson insists he "doesn't understand" the
media's obsession with him.
Earlier this year (14), the actor sold off the Los Angeles property
he once shared with Stewart, and he admits he won't miss having
snappers camped outside his home.
He explains, "(The paparazzi) photographed anyone who came up to
the gate, anyone who rang the bell, and they followed any car that
came in and out. I used to dress up my assistant as me, and get him
to drive off with like five cars following him around for
hours..."
And he jokes, "Whenever I see a bunch of paparazzi hanging out, I
always think, 'Oh God, what have they found out!' Oh, THAT love
child! I totally forgot!'"
