Rita Ora cancels Australian music festival appearance
Rita Ora has cancelled an appearance at an Australian music festival after falling sick with a throat infection.
The R.I.P. hitmaker sang at the Brisbane leg of the event on Saturday (02Mar13), but axed her slot at the Sunday (03Mar13) show in Perth after waking up with "no voice".
Doctors have ordered Ora to rest and she hopes to recover in time
to perform at next weekend's (09-10Mar13) shows in Sydney and
Melbourne.
A statement from festival organisers reads, "It is with great
regret that Future Entertainment and Mellen Events announce Rita
Ora will be unable to perform at Future Music Festival in Perth
today due to a throat infection. She has been ordered to bed rest
for the next 24 - 48 hours and is expected to continue all up
coming (sic) shows as scheduled."
Ora told fans the bad news in a series of posts on her Twitter.com
page and promised to schedule another show in Perth in the future,
writing, "I woke up this morning with no voice. I hate this... (I
am) carrying on the tour hoping my voice comes back. I promise to
put on a private show for you Perth I'm sorry. I hope you forgive
me... I love you and I'm sorry... Scariest thing for any artist.
When there (their) instrument doesn't work you can't help but
worry."
Ora's cancellation was a further blow to organisers of the Future
festival after headline act Avicii axed his appearances after being
hospitalised with stomach problems.
