Rihanna puts health scare behind her at charity show
Rihanna bounced back from illness to perform at a lavish charity gala in New York City on Monday night (14May12), helping to raise more than $57 million for good causes.
The Umbrella hitmaker sparked fears for her health last week (ends13May12) after she published a picture showing an IV drip attached to her arm. She made an appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of her movie Battleship on Thursday (10May12), telling reporters she is "a lot better now," and she returned to performing on Monday.
Rihanna put on a show at the Robin Hood Foundation Benefit in New
York City dressed as an Egyptian queen, complete with gold eye
make-up and a snake headdress.
During the event, held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in
Manhattan, she sang hits including Only Girl (In The World), Run
This Town and Live Your Life, while guests were also treated to a
surprise performance by rock legend Neil Young.
The event raised more than $57 million for the Robin Hood
Foundation, which works with non-profit organisations to help
alleviate problems caused by poverty in New York City.
Last year (11), Lady Gaga helped raise $47.4 million for good
causes as the event's star performer.
