Written by . Published: October 05 2016

Rihanna had Haiti on her mind and Haitians in her heart as Hurricane Matthew hit the Caribbean country on Tuesday (04Oct16).

The storm slammed into the island nation on Tuesday and Rihanna took to Twitter to offer up prayers to her "brothers and sisters" in the eye of the hurricane.

She wrote: "My heart absolutely breaks for Haiti!!! Prayers up for my brothers and sisters who've fallen victim to this tragic event!"

Hurricane Matthew also slammed into Cuba on Tuesday, while several coastal events in the coming days have been scrapped.

The inaugural Beach Town Music Festival in Vero Beach, Florida this weekend, which counted local hero Jake Owen and David Nail, Brett Michaels and the Gin Blossoms among the headliners, has been canceled.

The opening date on Luke Bryan's Farm Tour in South Carolina has also been axed due to extreme weather warnings, and Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood have rescheduled their Orlando, Florida concert, which was originally planned for Thursday (06Oct16).

The show will now take place on Sunday afternoon (09Oct16).
