Rihanna files lawsuit against former accountants
Rihanna has filed a lawsuit against her former accountants.
The Umbrella hitmaker has accused bosses at New York firm Berdon LLP of neglecting to properly manage her cash flow and expenses, uncover millions of dollars in unpaid royalties, and dissuade the beauty from purchasing a luxury home in California during her financially-straining Last Girl on Earth tour in 2009.
The 24 year old has also taken aim at her former financial advisors
for allegedly failing to file her tax returns, resulting in the
superstar becoming an audit target for officials at the Internal
Revenue Service. The R+B singer dropped the group last September
(11) after six years.
Rihanna, real name Robyn Fenty, lodged the legal papers at the
Manhattan Federal Court on Thursday (05Jul12), and an excerpt
obtained by the New York Daily News reads, "Despite having earned
millions of dollars in revenues during Berdon's tenure Fenty
learned that her net income after payment of expenses and
exorbitant commissions to defendant was a fraction of that
amount."
She is seeking unspecified damages over a number of claims,
including breach of contract and negligence.
