Rihanna claps back at fat shamers with Gucci Mane meme
Rihanna has hit back at the fat shaming comments made about her with characteristic humor.
The Work singer has been subjected to intense scrutiny about her weight after showing off a curvier shape of late. And last week a sports blog published a piece titled "Is Rihanna Going to Make Being Fat the Hot New Trend?"
In the now-deleted article, the writer Chris 'Spags' Spagnuolo accused Rihanna of "enjoying that good room service a bit too long" and said that the singer looks "like she's in a sumo suit."
On Monday (05Jun17), the 29-year-old finally addressed the furor by sharing a meme of rapper Gucci Mane in two pictures that show him before and after his stint in jail at significantly different weights, with the caption, "If you can't handle me at my 2007 Gucci Mane, you don't deserve me at my 2017 Gucci Mane", adding an upset face emoji in the caption for her Instagram post.
After the story was shared on Twitter, Spagnuolo was met with widespread criticism and accusations of misogyny. The backlash forced Barstool Sports' founder David Portnoy to remove the offending article and Spagnuolo has reportedly been suspended indefinitely.
