Rihanna back on top of albums chart with Anti
Rihanna's much-buzzed-about release Anti has jumped to the number one spot on the Billboard albums chart.
The R&B star's eighth studio album was initially released on Jay Z's music and video streaming app Tidal last week (27Jan16), and it was made available to all digital retailers two days later (29Jan16).
It debuted at number 27 on the Billboard 200 as it was only
eligible for a fraction of the chart's tracking week, but now, Anti
has leaped to the top spot, making it the biggest jump to number
one on the Billboard countdown in eight years. Anti's latest feat
also marks Rihanna's eighth album to reach the top 10.
When Anti was first released on Tidal, it was also a huge hit,
racking up 1.47 million downloads globally in just 15 hours.
Meanwhile, rapper Kevin Gates' new album, Islah, comes in at number
two on the Billboard 200, as Adele's 25 drops from the top spot to
third place. Sia's new effort, This Is Acting, takes the fourth
spot, and Justin Bieber's Purpose rounds out the new top five.
