Ricky Martin: 'My wedding will be one loud and crazy party'
Ricky Martin has warned friends and family his upcoming wedding will be "crazy" and "loud" as he and his new fiance embrace their cultural backgrounds.
The Livin' La Vida Loca hitmaker announced his engagement to Syrian-Swedish artist Jwan Yosef on Wednesday (16Nov16), and now he has given fans an insight into how he envisions their nuptials will be.
"This is going to be Middle Eastern and Latin crazy all at once,"
he smiled to People.com. "It's going to be one loud wedding!"
Ricky admits he has long hoped to find lasting love, especially
after same-sex marriages were legalized in last year (15).
Despite being single at the time, the 44-year-old reveals he was
"celebrating like crazy".
"I thought, 'I hope someday I get to wear a freaking ring and
celebrate love and bring my family and friends to a big feast and
get all Latin crazy on it," he recalled.
And, after he started dating Jwan earlier this year (16), Ricky
just knew he was 'The One'.
"It's one of those things when you have very beautiful moments,
magical moments, magical conversations and beautiful experiences
and all this time, you're thinking, 'Maybe it's here'," he gushed
about their romance. "Then you just go for it and allow yourself to
feel... I'm very certain about what's happening. I'm a hopeless
romantic."
Ricky shared the news of his engagement in an interview on
America's The Ellen DeGeneres Show, during which he admitted he was
a ball of nerves before popping the question.
"I was really nervous, but I got on my knees and... I just had it
in a little velvet pouch and instead of saying, 'Would you marry
me?', I said, 'I got you something!'" he cringed. "Bad. And then he
was like, 'Yes?'. I said, 'I want to spend my life with you' and he
was like, 'What is the question? Would you marry me?' That's
it!"
Ricky and his fiance were friends for more than a year before they
started a relationship, after the singer started to collect Jwan's
work.
Prior to finding love with Jwan, Ricky, who came out in 2010,
became a dad to sons Matteo and Valentino, born by a surrogate
mother in 2008.
The star has a lot to celebrate - he is also heading to Las Vegas
to start a concert residency next year (17).
