Richard Branson's London health club fined following model's death

A London health club owned by British tycoon Sir Richard Branson has been fined $15,000 after a model was found dead in a swimming pool.

Elsa Carneau drowned in 2011 and was discovered face down in the pool at the Virgin Active health club in West London.

A British judge fined the heath club $15,000 after prosecutors told the hearing at Southwark Crown Court on Friday (20Dec13) that staff failed to check the pool every 30 minutes.

Carneau's father Pierre tells Britain's Daily Mail newspaper, "We are interested in only one thing - to try and understand exactly what happened, there are still a number of questions. This is the beginning of an explanation. We hope a number of other important things will be addressed in due course."
