Reese Witherspoon developing Wall Street novel into comedy film
Actress Reese Witherspoon is so confident author Maureen Sherry Klinsky's upcoming Wall Street comedy novel will be a hit, she's working on adapting it for the big screen.
The Legally Blonde star has optioned the rights for Opening Belle through her production firm Pacific Standard and is eyeing tackling the lead role herself.
The book, which is due for publication later this year (15), is
loosely based on Klinsky's own experiences working on Wall Street
while trying to juggle her responsibilities as a mother of three as
the 2008 financial crisis looms.
Witherspoon and her partner, Bruna Papandrea, will produce the
financial comedy, which will be backed by studio bosses at Warner
Bros.
It's not the only book-to-movie adaptation in development at
Pacific Standard - Witherspoon and Papandrea are also working on
film versions of Gayle Tzemach Lemmon's Ashley's War, Luckiest Girl
Alive by Jessica Knoll, and S.J. Watson's thriller Second Life.
