Rebel Wilson suffered fashion nightmare at Jason Segel lunch
Australian comedienne Rebel Wilson was left red-faced during a one-time lunch date with actor Jason Segel after ripping her leather jacket as she went to sit down.
The Bridesmaids actress reveals she was trying hard to make a good impression on the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star on her first Hollywood meeting, but her efforts ended in embarrassment.
She has drawn on the real-life incident for a scene in her new
sitcom, Super Fun Night, and admits she is no stranger to fashion
nightmares.
Wilson tells Cosmopolitan magazine, "There's a scene (in the
sitcom) where my dress rips, and something like that happened when
I first came to America. I got set up on a lunch with Jason Segel.
He was the first Hollywood person that I got to have lunch with and
chat about life with or whatever. So I thought, I'll try to look my
best, and I wore my best leather jacket.
"When I sat down, a sharp edge on the chair snagged my jacket, and
it just ripped. I was devastated but trying to hide it because I
didn't want to ruin the lunch... I'm always ripping clothing. It's
so embarrassing."
That wasn't the only embarrassing moment from her real life which
made its way onscreen.
She explains, "In the pilot (of Super Fun Night), my character gets
invited to drinks, but she can't get into the club... That happened
to me recently at Skybar (in Los Angeles)...
"Anna Kendrick was having her birthday party there, and it was a
fancy place. So I get there... and this big, huge bouncer wouldn't
even look us in the face...
"I didn't pull the Reese Witherspoon (use her fame to gain entry).
He had a list, and I said, 'Excuse me, we're on the list. We're
here for Anna Kendrick's birthday party.' And then, eventually,
he's like 'OK, what's your name?'"
Witherspoon infamously declared "Do you know my name?" to a police
officer in Atlanta, Georgia during her April (13) arrest for
disorderly conduct.
