Prison inmate who plotted to kill Justin Bieber behind anthrax scare
An incarcerated murderer who once plotted to kill Justin Bieber is at the center of an anthrax scare at a Vermont courthouse.
Officials at the courthouse in Barre, where Dana Martin was sentenced for killing a 15-year-old girl, received an envelope containing white powder and a note suggesting it was anthrax on Wednesday (17Aug16).
The envelope was marked as inmate correspondence from a Delaware
prison, where Martin is serving 35 years-to-life.
He acknowledged the envelope contained nothing but foot powder when
he was approached by prison officials.
The 48-year-old conspired to kill Bieber, the singer's bodyguard
and two other people in Vermont while he was serving time in a New
Mexico prison in 2012. Ironically, he was infatuated with the pop
star and even had the image of his face tattooed on his leg. He
told investigators he plotted to kill Justin because he hadn't
responded to any of his letters.
He pleaded guilty to criminal solicitation to commit first-degree
murder.
Martin was arrested in October, 2000 and charged with killing
DeAndra Florucci and throwing her body from a bridge. He pleaded
guilty in 2001.
