Pitbull to duet with Jussie Smollett on Empire

Rapper Pitbull has become the latest musician to land a guest role on hit TV drama Empire.

The Fireball hitmaker will play himself and perform No Doubt About It with Jussie Smollett's character, Jamal, when the series returns for a second season.

Pitbull will join recently-announced guest star Mariah Carey and Becky G, Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland, Ludacris and Lenny Kravitz when the show returns to TV in September (15).

Marisa Tomei will also appear on the series as a lesbian billionaire.

Meanwhile, show creator Lee Daniels has landed another TV gig - Fox executives have picked up his new series Star.

The TV bosses opened their day at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour on Thursday (06Aug15) with the big announcement.

Like Empire, Star is a drama set in the music business. Daniels will co-write, executive produce and direct the series pilot, which will revolve around an all-girl trio on the rise.
