Perrie Edwards hopes Zayn Malik split helps other women
Perrie Edwards hopes other women take inspiration from the way she handled herself after her split from Zayn Malik became a hot topic of 2015.
The Little Mix star was dumped by her fiance in August (15), just months after he quit One Direction's world tour and gave up his place in the band.
Perrie's heartbreak was widely discussed among fans on social
media, but she soldiered on with her girl group's promotional
duties regardless, crediting her Little Mix bandmates with helping
her through the difficult time.
The singer has now reflected on her turbulent year as 2015 comes to
a close, and insisted she hopes her struggles help other women in a
similar situation.
"As difficult as it can be to have your private life plastered all
over... social media every day, I guess the one plus side is that
it is like a looking glass for other women to look in and relate
to," she tells British magazine Fabulous. "I learn new things every
day, but I've learned that no matter what life throws at you, you
take it day by day...
"My bond with (bandmates) Jade (Thirlwall), Jesy (Nelson) and
Leigh-Anne (Pinnock) this year has become even stronger. They're
the most incredibly supportive girls and I'm very grateful to have
them...
"My 2015 has been a rollercoaster. It's had its ups and downs, but
this year Little Mix have achieved so much. We've worked extremely
hard and the support we've received from our fans has been
incredible and uplifting."
Perrie goes on to reveal 2016 will be her most challenging year yet
professionally.
"Next year is going to be a big year for us," she adds. "We have
the biggest tour of our careers yet, and I can't tell you how
excited we are. Touring is what we work so hard for - performing
every night to huge crowds and getting to see our fans close
up."
She concludes by vowing to stay grounded as she feels "extremely
lucky" to be in such a fortunate position: "I will never change...
I still wake up every day feeling extremely lucky... Never in a
million years did I think that I'd have this lifestyle and meet so
many incredible people."
