Patton Oswalt stands up for Dave Chappelle after gig walkout
Patton Oswalt has leaped to defend fellow funnyman Dave Chappelle after the comic walked off stage at a gig on Thursday night (29Aug13) due to hecklers.
The stand-up cut short his set at the Comcast Theater in Hartford, Connecticut, after getting fed up with members of the audience shouting at him and quoting his older gags.
Oswalt has now taken to Twitter.com to urge those with tickets to
Chappelle's ongoing comeback tour to let him do what he does
best.
He writes, "Dear Dave Chappelle's fans: He's one of the best
comedians working, & you're not letting him do what he loves. Stop
being a**holes. Chappelle's touring now, trying to do his usual,
brilliant stuff, and the crowds are screaming, 'I'm Rick James,
b**ch!' Idiots...
"If you INTERRUPT a performer, f**k up their flow & timing, even in
praise, you're INSULTING THEM. Good Lord..."
Chappelle's Funny Or Die tour, which also features comedy duo
Flight of the Conchords, continues at Tinley Park, Illinois, on
Saturday (31Aug13).
