Orange Is The New Black leading the way at the Screen Actors Guild Awards

Orange Is The New Black kicked off the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards as a double winner on Sunday (25Jan15) after landing two of the night's first prizes.

Uzo Aduba was the first to grace the stage as the recipient of the Outstanding Female Actor in a Comedy Series For Television for her role as Suzanne 'Crazy Eyes' Warren, and she fought back tears as she accepted the honor.

An emotional Aduba told the crowd, "Oh my God... I want to say thank you so much to the Screen Actors Guild for this incredible honor...

"I want to say a huge massive thanks to our cast, who, without whom, this is not possible. I love you guys so desperately so much. This is not done without you, at all, any step of the way."

The award win was all the more poignant for Aduba because she had just decided to quit acting when she learned she had been cast in the prison drama.

She added, "The day I got this job was the day I had stopped acting, and to be in a room with all of you amazing human beings, amazing talents, for what I love and respect so much is really truly the greatest honor. Thank you so very much."

Aduba returned to the stage moments later as she and her co-stars were applauded with the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series title.

William H. Macy was another early winner, walking away with the prize for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series For Television for Shameless.
