One Direction rule BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards

One Direction were the toast of the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards on Sunday (07Oct12) after picking up three top prizes.


The boyband, comprised of singers Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik, was named Best British Music Act at the event, held in London's Wembley Arena for fans aged 14 to 17.


One Direction also landed Best British Single for One Thing and Best British Album for their debut, Up All Night, before performing live onstage.


Taking to Twitter.com after the bash, Styles writes, "Thank you again to BBC R1 for having us... Thank you everyone who voted! So happy to win!"


The X Factor, the talent contest which launched the boys' careers, was voted Best British TV Show, Daniel Radcliffe was crowned Best British Actor and his former Harry Potter co-star Emma Watson was named the Female Hottie of the Year.


Olympic diver Tom Daley was the Male Hottie of the Year as well as the Best British Sports Star, while Paralympian swimmer Ellie Simmonds was hailed as the Inspirational Hero of 2012.


Taylor Swift, British girl group Little Mix, Conor Maynard, Ne-Yo and fun. also performed at the ceremony.
