One Direction recruited for Bob Geldof charity single
One Direction are reportedly the first act to be recruited for Bob Geldof's latest charity music project.
The former Boomtown Rats star arranged the 1984 Band Aid charity single Do They Know It's Christmas? and is in the process of signing big-name stars for a new project, which will coincide with the 30th anniversary of the song's release in December (14).
A music industry insider tells Britain's The Sun newspaper the
five-piece boyband is the first act to get involved with the
single.
The source says, "Bob has gone all out to get the biggest names in
pop for the fourth release of Do They Know It's Christmas? (One
Direction members) Harry, Louis, Zayn, Liam and Niall were among
the first stars on the organisers' list and they jumped at the
chance to get involved. As with previous Band Aid releases, there's
likely to be a mix of credible and pop acts featuring on the
recording."
Reports suggest the single will raise money for the Ebola crisis
which has killed more than 4,500 in West Africa.
