Nina Dobrev and Austin Stowell split - report

Nina Dobrev and Austin Stowell have reportedly ended their seven-month romance.

The 27-year-old actress was first romantically linked to 31-year-old Austin in June (15) and the pair made their red carpet debut as a couple at the premiere of his film Bridge of Spies in October (15).

However, it seems that both Nina and Austin's busy work schedules prevented them from spending time together and this put a strain on their relationship.

"It started to get hard with both of their schedules," a source told E! News. "They remain on good terms."

Multiple insiders told the outlet the split happened sometime between late January and early February (16).

Speculation that the pair had broken up came after Nina attended the Super Bowl without her boyfriend. She then decided to spend Valentine's Day (14Feb16) with her girlfriends instead of making it a romantic occasion.

"Sunday Funday," she wrote on Instagram. "#HappyGALentinesDay."

Nina previously dated her Vampire Diaries co-star Ian Somerhalder from 2010 to 2013, while she was briefly linked to Miley Cyrus' ex-fiance, Liam Hemsworth, in 2014.

Ian has since moved on to Twilight actress Nikki Reed, who he wed last April (15) after a whirlwind romance.

Nina has now left her hit show The Vampire Diaries, but had to work alongside her ex Ian for several months, and insisted it was never awkward between them at work.

"I've said this before, that we didn't break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship," she told E! News. "I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he's great and I care about him. And that didn't change. Yes, we're professional and that's fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now."
