Nicole Scherzinger set for Jesus Christ Superstar movie?

Nicole Scherzinger is reportedly in talks to play Mary Magdalene in a new big screen adaptation of hit musical Jesus Christ Superstar.

The pop star and TV talent show judge is being lined up to play Jesus' female disciple in a re-imagining of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's rock opera, which was made into a film in 1973.

Scherzinger has been in negotiations with Lord Webber since earlier this year (11) after falling in love with the music, according to Britain's Sun.

A source tells the publication, "Nicole is a big fan of the songs and was desperate to be involved. She can sing and dance equally well so musicals are a natural step forward."

Singer Yvonne Elliman played the part in the original film.
