Nicole Kidman hit with lawsuit over flooding New York apartment
Nicole Kidman has been hit with a lawsuit from a neighbor at her New York City apartment building after allegedly failing to properly install a pipe, which burst and flooded his downstairs condo.
The Oscar winner's neighbor, Leonard Steinberg, and representatives at his insurance company, Nationwide Property & Casualty, are asking for nearly $47,000 in damages.
According to legal documents filed in Manhattan Supreme Court on
Monday (05Jan15) and obtained by the New York Daily News,
Nationwide representatives claim Kidman authorized a contractor
through New Industries Inc. to install a copper pipe in her home to
carry water to her terrace.
However, the contractor allegedly did not install insulation or
heat tape around the pipe, and when the weather turned cold in
January 2012, the pipe froze and burst, subsequently shooting a
cascade of water from the actress' home down into Steinberg's
apartment.
Kidman and her country star husband Keith Urban purchased the condo
in December 2010 for $10 million .
