Nicholas Brendon splits from his wife of five months

Actor Nicholas Brendon and his wife have split just five months after exchanging vows in Las Vegas.

The Criminal Minds star wed Moonda Tee on 1 October (14).

Tee revealed the union was over in a post on her Facebook page earlier this month (Feb15), and now Brendon's publicist has confirmed the news in a statement posted to his client's social media page on Thursday (12Feb15).

It reads: "I am officially announcing that Nicholas and his wife, Moonda Tee, have parted ways. Nicholas expressed that Moonda is truly a 'beautiful person' and that he 'wishes her the best that life has to offer'.

"We know that there will be rumors and gossip, but we ask that Nick's privacy be respected during this difficult time. Things like this are never easy."

In her Facebook post earlier this month, Tee wrote, "He couldn't see just what an amazing thing he had in a girl like me."

Married life for the couple also began on social media - Brendon announced the news he and Tee had wed via Twitter.com, writing, "AND WERE MARRIED!!! ##tildeathdouspart."

He also uploaded a photo of the then-happily married couple standing beneath the famous 'Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas' sign.

Shortly after he wed Tee, the former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star was arrested in Boise, Idaho and charged with malicious injury to property and resisting or obstructing officers.

The actor offered an apology and explained he was seeking treatment for "medical ailments" and "emotional demons".

Brendon was previously married to actress Tressa DiFiglia from 2001 to 2006.
