New parents John Legend and Chrissy Teigen 'happy and elated'

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen's daughter Luna is "absolutely beautiful".

The couple welcomed their first child together last Thursday (14Apr16). One of the first people to meet the new addition was the pair's close friend Mike Jackson, who executive produced television series Underground along with John.

Speaking at a panel discussion for the show in Beverly Hills over the weekend (ends17Apr16), Mike said the tot is as gorgeous as would be expected with a model for a mother.

"I've held baby Luna in my arms," Mike told Entertainment Tonight. "She is absolutely beautiful. I think she looks like both of them. She's gorgeous!"

Mike also revealed Chrissy, 30, and John are now home from the hospital with Luna and enjoying the first few days of new parenthood. Chrissy was very open about her struggles to conceive and their battle to have a baby has made the safe arrival of Luna even more special.

"They’re doing great. They're happy. They're elated," he said. "It's a long time coming. They went through a lot to have this child. They're excited. We're all really blessed to have her a part of all our lives."

Chrissy broke the news of Luna's arrival on Instagram on Saturday, writing: "She's here. Luna Simone Stephens, we are so in love with you! And sleepy. Very sleepy."

John, 37, added on his Twitter page: "Our new love is here! Luna Simone Stephens, born on Thursday, the 14th. We couldn't be happier!"

Chrissy is known to her fans for her sense of humour and hilarious tweets. But following Luna's birth, the stunning star took to her social media to admit she didn't know what to write.

"Thank you for all the well wishes!!! we are so happy and excited!" she wrote. "i dunno what to tweet now. does my twitter change? this is so awkward (sic)."

The couple wed in September 2013.
