New Michael Jackson album set for release
A new album featuring previously unheard Michael Jackson tracks is set to be released in May (14).
The late King of Pop's family has given legendary record label boss Antonio 'L.A.' Reid the green light to release XSCAPE, which features eight previously unheard songs recorded before the singer's death in 2009.
Reid says, "Modern music and artistry would look and sound
completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions
Michael Jackson gifted to the world. Michael left behind some
musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through
the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with
or expressed strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and
honoured to present this music to the world."
John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of Jackson's estate,
add, "Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly
reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was
always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture
that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision."
The songs have been updated by a range of top producers including
Timbaland and Rodney Jerkins and the album is slated for release on
13 May (14). The title track, Xscape, was recorded for Jackson's
last studio album, 2001's Invincible.
