Nelly plays historic show in Kurdistan

Nelly became the first American artist to perform in Ebril, Kurdistan on Friday (13Mar15) when he performed for locals and troops battling terrorist group ISIS.

The Hot in Herre hitmaker teamed up with officials from the Rwanga Foundation to play a fundraiser for those displaced by recent conflict and those fighting the terrorists, and 15,000 locals came out to see him.

Rwanga Foundation’s Director or PR & Media, Taban Shoresh, says, "We are delighted and proud that the city of Erbil hosted this landmark charity concert and would like to thank Nelly for his involvement."

Arab Idol’s Ammar Koofy also performed but Akon, who was initially billed to play, was a no-show. It is not clear why he dropped out of the show.
